Quote: "Indigenous peoples, together with scientists and academics and activists and NGO organizations like Amazon Watch, we are calling for much beyond 30×30 or even 50×30. We are calling for 80 by 2025." Don't let them liquidate our world for their luxuries.

“I learned in the rainforest that every native species has a role to play in this tapestry of life – they're all interconnected. The loss of one can lead to the loss of another and so on. Every time one species disappears from an area, it's like pulling thread from that tapestry and as you pull more and more threads the tapestry gets weaker and you get ecosystem collapse.” Jane Paul Goodall

30 in 30 lands will be those lands with the least commercial value NOT those lands maximally beneficial to combating extinction:
“"The global biodiversity framework to save nature must respect, promote and support the rights of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities if it stands any chance of succeeding.” ~ IIFB Statement on Target 3 CDB COP 15 negotiations
We support IIFB's call for the inclusion of "Indigenous People territories and customary lands and waters" as a third pathway to recognition beyond protected areas and OCEMs.
Recognizing "Indigenous Territories" in the Global Diversity Framework will:
✦ Respect the rights, lands and self-determination of Indigenous Peoples
✦ Support the continued preservation of Indigenous lands by Indigenous Peoples
✦ Allow countries to achieve critical 30x30 objectives in a humane manner
We urge all parties at COP 15 to consider this position in their negotiations of Target 3.”
