5/2022 India is uninhabitable. Extreme heat wave returns even hotter

Updated: May 24, 2022

India’s late April extreme heatwave,… to actually get HOTTER.

India is uninhabitable:

“Parts of Pakistan and north-west India to endure +50C temperatures”

“After a blistering heatwave at the end of April, extreme heat is again gripping parts of #India and #Pakistan.

Temperatures may reach around 49-50°C in the hottest locations, such as Jacobabad, and the Sibi area of Pakistan. These values are around 5-7°C above average for the time of year .

#Heatwaves are bad for health, ecosystems, agriculture, water and energy supplies - and are having a punishing impact on the region's glaciers.

This is why WMO wants to expand early warnings and heat-health action plans.

Heatwaves are consistent with what we expect in our changing climate.
