Despite our politicians’ actions, the death of our global biosphere has been clear, obvious, and imminent to them for decades. They have known precisely what is going on.
To say that they haven’t taken action in response to the collapse of our planet’s ability to support life is naïve. With every breath they take they continue to make a deliberate conscious choice to follow their response to the problem.
And their response to the problem is a pattern of behavior that will and already has, albeit largely time delayed, resulted in the deaths of 100’s millions – if not eventually billions – of nonrich citizens throughout the world including many Americans. Understand that even you may be one of the dead to come from their response. They know this. The Pentagon knows this. They are ideologues, not deaf, dumb, and blind. They are knowingly committing social murderer on a grand scale in exchange for money. Think of it as a variation of a common street thug inflicting a deadly wound in the process of stealing your wallet or purse.
They know precisely the death, destruction, suffering, and other consequences of their actions with respect to the global environment has and will continue to result in.
And they chose to do so anyway because the value, the genetic makeup if you wish, of the lives of some people is worth less to them than others.
The conduct we see – the lying, misrepresentation, denial, hopium, incrementalism, religious dogma, division, etc. - is geared to allow them to perpetuate this and other ruses that accumulate even more wealth for the appropriate people.
