30 by 30 was chosen because it wouldn’t interfere with Big Ag. America is now expected to lose over 1/3 of its plant & animal species to extinction. The goal should have been 80% by 2025 but Democrats killed that

CENSORED BY FACE BOOK [possibly originating from within Wisconsin in this instance]

“This is very surprising that the Friends of Kohler Andrae would consider this new sign a fitting substitute. Why was this done? Is the DNR carrying out an order by Kohler to make the Company’s donation of many years ago more obvious? Why should the public complain about Kohler taking our State Park land to use for its own profit when they donated a park? The answer is that the land Kohler has taken from our park was never theirs. It was taken from residents in the 60’s through eminent domain and paid for with federal and state funds. Who’s doing the bidding of the Kohler Company here? The Friends, the DNR?

How about asking for the old sign back? Write the Friends of Kohler Andrae on their FB page and weigh in.”

“Roses are Red, Palm oil is too, Deforestation is not a good look on you”

“This Valentine’s Day, some of your candy may be linked to land grabbing and rainforest deforestation.

Mondelēz, the proud maker of Cadbury and Oreos, says they respect Indigenous rights, but are buying palm oil from controversial companies.”

“Copernicus: Exceptionally warm temperatures - Europe experiences third warmest January on record; Antarctic sea ice extent reached its lowest for January”

1Mark W. Toer:

see also: ‘ There is currently less sea ice in the Antarctic than at any time in the forty years since the beginning of satellite observation: in early February 2023, only 2.20 million square kilometers of the Southern Ocean were covered with sea ice. Researchers from the Alfred Wegener Institute and the University of Bremen analyze the situation for the Sea Ice Portal.

January 2023 had already set a new record for its monthly mean extent (3.22 million square kilometers), even though the melting phase in the Southern Hemisphere continues until the end of February. The current expedition team on board RV Polarstern has just reported virtually ice-free conditions in its current research area, the Bellingshausen Sea. ‘

“Record low sea ice cover in the Antarctic”

2Mark W. Toer:

See also: ' Surface melting over Antarctica was near-average through January, but above average surface melting occurred on both the northeastern and southwestern areas of the Antarctic Peninsula. This has led to extensive ponding of melt on the surface in several areas. Read more in our latest Antarctica Today post: http://bit.ly/3lkYgVg

“Widespread melting and ponded water on the Peninsula Ice Shelves”

3Mark W. Toer:

Antarctic sea ice extent reached its lowest value for January in the satellite dataset, at 31% below average, well below the previous record of January 2017.

Below-average sea ice concentrations prevailed in all sectors of the Southern Ocean.

Arctic sea ice extent was 4% below average, ranking 3rd lowest for January in the satellite data record.

Arctic sea ice concentrations were most below-average in the Barents Sea and Svalbard region.
