Kevin Hester\Nature Bats Last:

“Guy's latest interview on "Political Misfit's" discusses the seemingly never-ending droughts in the US, which National Geographic states is the worst in 1200 yrs and will continue until at least 2030.

Stand by for food shortages and the coming water wars.”

The Nature strikes Back! The world under water- Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, Italy and other countries.

Severe weather ravaged Italy! The extreme weather was reported across Italy on Tuesday. Seven of all the 20 regions issued severe weather warnings and two issued red alerts — the island region of Sardinia and Abruzzo, east of Rome. Dozens of people were injured as the storm wreaked havoc. The severe weather is expected to continue lashing parts of the country through Thursday. This is the latest of a long series of severe weather events that have hit Italy this year. The country suffered unusually long heat waves and severe drought during the summer, which caused hundreds of death and slashed agricultural production, followed by flash floods and intense thunderstorms that killed at least 10 people and caused hundreds of millions of euros in damages.

The European Severe Weather Database (ESWD) said earlier that Italy recorded five times more extreme weather events than a decade ago.

No! Your words sound like they were chosen by an attorney. No one should put a fork in “…now positioned to achieve a goal.” No one should trust the White House when it comes to oil & gas. Their history does not deserve trust. Goals can come up short. We need

clear, concise, quantifiable immediate reductions in new emissions as well as removing emissions from the atmosphere to date. If you can’t get reductions in ghg to at least offset additions, including from feedbacks (and an equivalent amount to offset warming from feedback mechanisms not involving new emissions like albedo) then you are just condemning us to death.

They know what needed to be done and they know they are falling short. It sends a shiver up my spin when they post shit to make us think everything is ok when they know their lying and that probably most of the people who read it will die from their actions

[The above was posted in response to the White House bragging about its achievements in very vague, iffy, dicey, lawyer-speaky way. But it appears their post was taken down and a link to “climatealert” was put in its place]

“Planetwide Ecocide, the Crime Against Life on Earth”

““We are simply talking about the very life support system of this planet.”

Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, Germany’s former chief climate scientist (2009)

“Burning all fossil fuels would create a very different planet than the one that humanity knows. The palaeoclimate record and ongoing climate change make it clear that the climate system would be pushed beyond tipping points, setting in motion irreversible changes, including ice sheet disintegration with a continually adjusting shoreline, extermination of a substantial fraction of species on the planet, and increasingly devastating regional climate extremes” and “this equates 400,000 Hiroshima atomic bombs per day 365 days per year” . James Hansen et al. 2012 and James Hansen 2012.

“AILSA CHANG, HOST:

Grocery prices are rising fast, and the Biden administration thinks meatpackers are partly to blame. The White House suggests that a handful of big meatpacking companies are pushing up prices at the supermarket, even as farmers and ranchers are struggling. The companies deny that. The administration's beef with meatpackers is part of a larger campaign against what the White House sees as anti-competitive behavior by big business. NPR's Scott Horsley reports.”

“Bert Wolfe writes

It has been remarked that all that is required to change America for the better is the development of the political will to do so.

Ah, but that it were all quite that simple.

Developing that political will requires a massive sea change in the consciousness and belief systems of the great mass of the American people as late stage multinational corporate capitalism is America’s secular religion, complete with its own holy literature, dogma, and liturgy.

I’m not expecting it short of a cataclysmic catastrophe in America, such as a war as all consuming, destructive, and grinding as the two World Wars were in Europe, and/or an economic collapse that makes the Great Depression of the 1930s look like boom times. The kind of cataclysmic event that absolutely shatters all former belief systems, faiths, and complacent certainties, leaving the former faithful believers totally unmoored, cast adrift, bereft, grieving, and seeking new wisdom and a new way.

Then, and only then, when late stage multinational corporate capitalism and the social and political systems it engenders and that support it prove to be “the God that failed” will America be ready for the change in political will that will transform the American economy and society.”
