Folks the rain forests may have been referred to as the lungs of the planet but an estimated 50% of the oxygen the atmosphere we need to breath to stay alive comes from the ocean. As the oceans warm the phytoplankton die and the oxygen production falls.
Scripps is reporting that ocean oxygen production is falling. There is even a movie called “IO” that depicts earth being a planet with an atmosphere that doesn’t support breathing.:
